This month Stig visited the Dutch annual real estate fair PROVADA at RAI Amsterdam. This year’s theme, ‘The Next Step’, covered the likes of robotics, the Internet of Things and Big Data.
Stig partner Arènso Bakker on attending the 12th edition of the fair: “Developments in real estate and area development are important for our business. After all, port development is a special kind of area development.”
Most appealing to Stig were this year’s themes of Smart Cities and Business Innovation. Bakker: “The smart cities theme is currently very relevant in port cities. Cities grow and expand in a more complex way. How do we keep them habitable and accessible? And what new business models can help us attain those goals?”
Real estate is under going many changes at the moment, Bakker observes. “I was glad to see the return of faith in our industry.” Usage versus ownership, temptation to buy and experience were central to the fair. “To limit investment risks, market demand is most important in area development. This demand is then produced by tempations to buy”, Bakker says.
