APM Rotterdam barge terminal Maasvlakte 1 Port of Rotterdam

Development of this barge terminal involved land reclamation and quay wall construction by the Port of Rotterdam and superstructure construction by APMT. During early stages it became clear that applicable tolerances for land reclamation and quay wall could cause risk of additional maintenance (soil level increase, repaving and crane rail re-leveling). In the mean time contractual agreements were based on functional specifications which had - during early design stages - partially progressed to mutually confirmed technical detailing. The challenge in capacity of developer was to renegotiate a new set of specs, based on reasonable functional requirements from APMT point of view and realistic technical tolerances from a PoR point of view.
