In Colombia, a large exporter of oil, carbon, agribusiness, production potential exceeds export as inland transport falls short. Despite the existence of major river systems, they account for just 1% of the total transport volume. A policy document was needed to improve the river transport system, competing with road and rail and considering all disciplines (technical, legal, institutional, environmental, commercial). StigΔ developed a socio-economical policy document, based on a demand driven approach. The view includes recommendations for institutional improvement and international cooperation between Colombia and the Netherlands.
