As board member of the AIVP, StigΔ nominated Rotterdam as port city for the 15th World Conference Cities and Ports (AIVP). Rotterdam has been chosen as host.
The upcoming conference is scheduled for 5-7 October 2016 at the Stadshavens Rotterdam. This year’s theme is ‘crossovers’. Central to the discussion will be the new dynamics and the modernity of port cities.
‘Time to show the world’
“Rotterdam is a great example for port cities all over the world”, StigΔ partner Arènso Bakker explains. “Furthermore, both the municipality and the port authority of Rotterdam were very successful in port city developments and in their joint projects. It’s time to show the results to the world.”
The municipality, the port authority and their cooperation Stadshavens took over the initiative and work hard to make the conference a unique event. StigΔ is a member of the organising committee. Last week, the AIVP opened the call for contributions to parties interested in contributing to the conference.
Association Internationale Villes et Ports
The international organisation for the relationship between cities and ports focuses on the transformation of old ports and the social issue that many port cities share. The AIVP network allows for members to share their knowledge and experience, which has led to a better development of port corridors. The AIVP organises an annual smaller European conference, and a bi-annual world conference held on a different continent and in a different city each year.
